Laura was born in Erice, Sicily on March 16, 1990. She went sailing for the first time when she was six years old at the Stagnone Nature Reserve. At the age of 12, Laura joined the Italian Youth National Team.
Winner of 7 world titles, in the sea of Aarhus in Denmark, Laura wins the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship for the third time.
At the age of 18, Laura joined the Olympic windsurfing section of the Italian Navy. In 2009 she finished 5th at the Europeans of Tel Aviv. In the same year, she won her first silver medal in The ISAF World Cup of Medemblik.
Sees Laura challenging the olympic champion Alessandra Sensini for the Italian olympic selection of London 2012. In 2010, Laura won the silver medal at the Europeans and reached No.9 at The World Championship of Perth.
Thanks to a partnership with the French athlete Charline Picon (Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016), Laura had the opportunity to train at the National Sailing Center in La Rochelle (Atlantic coast - France). In 2014, Laura won a silver medal at the Miami World Cup and finished in the 3rd position in the ISAF World Ranking. In 2015 she won the Italian Championship in the bay of Naples.
After two years of break from regattas, in December 2018, Laura returned to racing for the Sailing Club Roggero di Lauria, winning the bronze medal in 2019 at the Italian Championships. In 2019, she secured a top 10 position internationally, finishing in eighth place both at the Andalusian Olympic Week and at the Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik.
Inside the Stagnone Nature Reserve (Marsala city), where Laura sailed for the first time, in 2021 she founded her sailing school. During the athlete's career, Laura obtained the Windsurfing, Kitesurfing & Sailing Instructor Diploma.
